Welcome to my deviantART gallery. I hope you'll enjoy it :)
I hope you had a good time during the holidays.
I wish you health and joy for 2011.
I've been meaning to remake my website for a long while but I'm finally done.
Some features may come later, but for now, it's all good, up and running.

It's still on SidhOnline.net www.sidhonline.net/
I've been haunting dA for too long. I feel like a ghost wandering around without being able to reach out for anything.
I've had a lot to do in the past months, worked a lot on different projects, found a few more that still have to be done.
It's that time of year when I'm working hard, harvesting my vines, and when people won't ask me for anything, knowing I won't have time for them. Good for me. I finally have time for my own projects.
Don't get me wrong: I love helping people out, getting involved in their work... I like it too much actually. I just can't say no. And then, my own envies get lost in the land of ghosts.
So, this is this time of the year again, when I don't need to say no because I'm not asked anyway.
I've been meaning to rebuild my website for months, maybe years, and I'm finally getting there.
I hope I'll have it up and running within the next two weeks.
I want to come back to deviantART, to an active presence. I want to interact, I want to meet people and talk about their work.

How many people will read that ramble? Right now, I'd say a couple... My bad, I've been away for too long. Let's hope I'll deserve some more readers in the future.

Good night for now,
Love,
Sidh

To join or not to join...

I hope you all had great holidays and I wish you once again a Happy New Year.

As a new year usually comes with good resolutions that are never hold, I decided to not take any this year. We'll see if I can then fulfil them.

I just opened a Twitter page, I thought I should give it a try. Now my question is : what about Facebook? I would like to show my photos around and get more comments and critiques about them, but is Fbk the good tool for that?
I always said I'd never join, never ever, because I'm  no sheep and also, I would get inevitably hooked and then spend all my free time there. That's most probably true. But maybe it is worth it... Is it?

I'll wait and see what you tell me. In the meantime, we can still Twitt

First commission.

Yesterday, I just had confirmation from a friend that the photos she commissioned me to illustrate an article in her journal will be published. I'll let you know when the issue is out.
I will also start to post resource photographs on website such as scxh or i-stock. My friend gave me tips about what journalists look for to illustrate their articles and this will be very helpful.
If you have some more (tips that is ;p ), I'd be glad to hear them!

Thank you.

Thank you very much for all the favs and watches.
I hope I will soon have time to reply to everyone individually, but life has been hectic lately and will be so for at least another two weeks.
I still check dA regularly and I'm very touched by all the messages I get.

Thank you :heart::

Prohibited content? EDIT

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 10, 2009, 8:21 AM

Note me

What do you think about this photograph?
Does this look inappropriate to you?

images-1.redbubble.net/img/art…

This photo from :iconstamatisgr: was reported for Prohibited Content.
I do not know the reasons that made people to report this photo but it doesn't really matter.
- If the problem is the age of the girl, then FIRST ask the photographer if s/he has the authorization from the parents to post the photo online.
- If it's because the child is partly nude, then consider beach as forbidden places for underage kids or ask your country to require kids to wear a wetsuit instead of a swimsuit.

Seriously.

If you want to know what was finally the problem, the photograph wrote a journal about it stamatisgr.deviantart.com/jour…

Rules are rules, and we have to follow them or quit the site. I agree with that.
I personally didn't know about that rule concerning girls between 2 and 18 and in StamatisGR's situation, I would have posted my photo as well because to the French me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that photo and I didn't know about that rule.

This makes me wonder: is there an law in the US prohibiting to depict girls from 2 to 18 without a top or is it just a choice dA made? Does anyone know?

A photographer, finally.

On Friday, I finally had the chance to go meet my musician friends and have that photo session we've been talking about for a year already.
We all had lots of fun and my friends are really pleased with the result.
I got the chance to show one of the numerous shots I took that day to a professional photographer who told me I did a good job. Of course, there are a few mistakes, but not much considering that was a first. He offered me to check all the photos with me to analyse what's right and what's wrong.

I could hardly be happier.

The use of reflectors in portrait photography?

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 4, 2009, 12:48 AM

Note me

Reflectors & Portraits.

Friends of mine asked for a photo session to make shots they can use to promote their band agua.e.vinho.free.fr/Agua_e_Vi…. I accepted, warning them I've never done that before so I couldn't guarantee the result, but they did not seem to mind.
I do not have a lot of equipment nor money and I asked to a professional photographer already what was the least I should get.
His answer was: two reflectors, made out of polystyrene of about 2x1 meters.

Ok. I checked out the price of polystyrene in France and I almost chocked... So now I'm more looking for a real reflector or something easy to build and carry (even though I doubt anything of the size of 2x1m will be easy to carry anyway). but anything that can be tough enough to be used more than once.

The photos requested will be done outside, on a neutral background (classic white background) and will include the two musicians and most probably their guitars.

I also had a look on "cheap" reflectors like these www.prophotofrance.com/Items/1… but they seem a bit small and I'm not sure how I should place them on the "set".

Any advice regarding this issue is more than welcome. I keep looking for advices in books or websites but your experience and insight on the situation would be very helpful too.

Thanks in advance.

My Secret Garden
Come with me to my Secret Garden, and do not be afraid
For here you will be surprised, by sights and scenes being laid
Faeries dancing beneath the moon, whilst elves sit tapping their feet
To songs and Tunes of fantasy, in this magical place we meet
And Yes it may be a Fantasy, but to me it is surely real
For what is there inside our hearts, enables us to feel
With hands outstretched I grasp the dream, and make it all my own
Remembering of such happiness, from whence all seeds are sown
Pixie Dust flowing along the wind, with beauty for all to seize
Catching glitter and dragonwings, such symmentry upon the breeze
Forest creatures both big and small, share space and harmony
No need for fear in this special place,  just peace and company
The brightest stars fill up the sky, spreading light from up above
A stage below for one and all, to dance and share the love
To be as one and just believe, that peace will rule our Land
To live together in Tranquil

Long time no see! I'm a ghost on dA lately, haunting your pages without being seen!
I had some very nice responses to my latest shots and that's very encouraging. Thank you very much for your support.
I have another roll in hand that, I think, I will use in the Kodak Brownie Hawkeye. I'm curious to see what this camera can do, but it won't be easy to use the viewfinder.

I will be gardening this weekend and will hopefully grow some nice subject to picture later this year! I'm really looking forward to butterflies, birds and bugs.

I just realised I'm getting really close to the 20.000 pageviews! Thank you very much for your support with favs and comments, it's really appreciated.

Germany!

Guten Tag!

My German being more than rusty, I'll go on in English...
If anyone lives close to Aachen, Germany, my wine is now selling there!!! It's selling in Germany for the first time and hopefully, not the last... So if you are curious to check what I can do besides photography, you can go to the shop called Divinum, Bachstrasse 70 in Aaren, and request the wine of Cahors from le Chêne Rond!

Danke schön!

News

Before presenting you the winners of the Yummy Cards Contest held by MonicaMarinho here are a few news.

* My brother uploaded a song he wrote to play with his ukulele! If you want a good laugh, you can listen to it here. It's the 5th one. Feel free to listen to the others as well and leave him comments.

* This weekend I visited my best friend's parents. Geerlig, her father, is a professional photographer. I had lots of questions for him and he was very helpful, plus he gave me a film roll of 120 and told me to ask him for more when I'll be done with this one. Good deal! I'm trying to get all I need to develop the negatives myself, apparently it's quite simple and that would save lots of money.

* Enough talking! Congratulations to all the winners of the Yummy Cards Contest!!!
